Q: Why do I need health insurance?
A: As medical care advances and treatments increase, health care costs also increase. The purpose of health insurance is to help you pay for care.
It protects you and your family financially in the event of an unexpected serious illness or injury that could be very expensive. In addition, you are more likely to get
routine and preventive care if you have health insurance.
Q: How do I decide which plan is right for me and my family?
A: Before you make a decision about purchasing health insurance, you should carefully compare costs and coverage. Be sure to take the following into consideration as well:
* Access to doctors, hospitals, and other providers;
* Access to after hours and emergency care;
* Out-of-pocket costs (coinsurance, copays, and deductibles);
* Exclusions and limitations
Q: Is the information I enter on your site kept confidential?
A: Yes. We don't use cookies or any other method to track what visitors do on our site, and we don't save (or even have access to) the information
you enter. Our quote generator is located on OUR server, so nothing you enter gets sent anywhere, either.
Q: Does it cost more to buy my insurance through an agent?
A: No. Whether you buy your insurance through an agent or directly from the insurance provider, the cost is exactly the same.
Q: How do I insure just my child or children?
A: Enter one child in the "Applicant" field. To enter more children, complete the "Child" rows, leaving the
"Spouse" row blank. NOTE: There are several plans that are for one person only, so you may want to add your children separately
to see Individual plan rates for them as well.
Q: When will my coverage start?
A: After you complete the application, it takes some time for it to be processed by the carrier. Most
insurance policies go into effect on either the 15th or the last day of each month. Which date yours begins on will depend
upon the application processing time requiredas well as while provider you've chosen.
Q: How do I make payments for my policy or policies?
A: Usually, after you complete the application forms, you will be asked for either a credit card or for a check
to pay for the first month's premiums. Your payment is typically not processed until your application is approved. You will then
be billed by the provider for future payments, which can usually be paid monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Different providers offer
different payment plans and schedules, so your payment options will vary.
Q: What can I do if my application is denied?
A: You may be eligible for coverage through the Washington State Health Insurance Pool (WSHIP), created by the Washington
State Legislature. It provides health coverage to Washington residents who cannot find adequate commercial health coverage due to their
health conditions, or because they reside in a county where commercial individual coverage is not offered. In addition, you may be able
to appeal the decision by contacting the provider who denied your application.
